A quick note for non-classroom teachers:
The Building Positive Relationships course is designed for educators who work directly with students, including counselors. If you don’t currently have your own students, you may not be able to meet the requirements for this course. Instead, we recommend exploring our UMass Global and CSU Pueblo courses, which are perfect for educators in all roles and don’t require direct student interaction.
Looking for more PD-credit options?
If you are in need of more PD credits, check out our UMass Global courses and CSU Pueblo courses for PD credits towards salary reclassification. The UMass Global and CSU Pueblo courses have no start dates and no due dates, so you can begin and complete them whenever you like. Also, you do not need to be working with students to complete these courses, so they don't need to take up any class time if you don't want them to. Reach out to [email protected] with any questions!
Building Positive Relationships
Great educators are not just instructors or test administrators; they are mentors, coaches, motivators, and lifelong sources of inspiration to their students. To truly impact our students, we must recognize that relationships are the cornerstone of meaningful and enduring education. Current research shows that the number one factor influencing students' educational success is the quality of their relationships with their teachers and counselors. Skilled educators understand the value of forming strong connections with their students. Through this course, you will learn essential, research-backed skills and develop cutting-edge strategies that you can start using right away to connect with all of your students. Building positive relationships with your students will minimize classroom disruptions, improve student engagement, and reduce stress for everyone, fostering a supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.
