Hawaiʻi Teacher FAQ

Will HIDOE accept these credits for reclassification?

Yes! Both partners are regionally accredited — UMass Global by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), and CSU Pueblo by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) — and HIDOE accepts both for salary step reclassification. For Teachers By Teachers has guided thousands of Hawaiʻi DOE teachers through this since 2015.

CSU Pueblo or UMass Global — which should I pick?

Both give you the same 5 courses and the same 15 HIDOE-accepted credits. CSU Pueblo costs less and is a single payment; UMass Global lets you spread the cost out and add credits as you go. Pick whichever fits your budget — the comparison above shows both totals side by side.

Do I have to pay for credits up front?

Only if you choose the CSU Pueblo all-in path, where everything is included in one payment. On the UMass Global path you pay $249 for the courses and add credits whenever you're ready — even after you finish — paid directly to the university.

How long do I have to finish?

All 5 courses are 100% self-paced. No deadlines from us, no live meetings, no busywork — start and finish on your timeline.

How do I submit to HIDOE?

Send your transcript along with the DOE 200-005 form to Teacher.Reclassification@k12.hi.us. We provide the 200-005 form inside your online classroom with step-by-step Hawaiʻi instructions, and you can email info@forteachersbyteachers.org anytime if you get stuck.

What if it's not the right fit?

We offer a 7-day refund window. Enroll, preview the materials, and if it's not what you expected, email us within 7 days for a refund. Full details on our Terms page.
