Terms of Use

Welcome to For Teachers By Teachers LLC (“FTBT”). We build courses for educators with the goal of making professional learning clear, flexible, and practical.

A quick note before you read

We’ve helped thousands of educators use FTBT courses for professional development, salary advancement, and license-related goals. Because requirements can vary by district, employer, union, state, and university partner, these Terms are meant to provide transparency—not confusion.

If you have a question before enrolling, email info@forteachersbyteachers.org. We’re happy to help you figure out whether a course is a good fit before you buy.

1. Educational Purpose

FTBT courses are offered for professional learning and continuing education. They may be used by educators for purposes such as professional development, salary advancement, renewal-related requirements, or transcripted university credit, depending on the specific course and your local requirements.

Nothing on this site constitutes legal, employment, certification, licensing, or HR advice. You are responsible for confirming that a course meets your intended purpose before enrolling.

2. Acceptance, Approval & Outcomes

Many educators successfully use our courses for salary advancement, license renewal, professional development, or reimbursement. However, final acceptance and approval decisions are made by third parties such as school districts, employers, unions, state agencies, licensing bodies, and university partners.

FTBT does not guarantee any specific result, including:

  • salary step movement or reclassification
  • license or certificate renewal
  • district, union, employer, or agency approval
  • tuition reimbursement or credit recognition
  • acceptance of a transcript, course, hour, or credit for a particular purpose

Because policies can change, prior approval or prior acceptance does not guarantee future approval or acceptance.

3. Your Responsibility Before Enrolling

Before enrolling, you are responsible for reviewing the course description and verifying that the course, hours, credits, timeline, and transcript option fit your needs.

If you are enrolling for a deadline-sensitive purpose, such as salary advancement or reclassification, you are also responsible for confirming your deadline and allowing enough time for course completion, grading, university posting, transcript processing, and any employer or agency review.

4. Refund Policy

We want you to feel good about enrolling. If a course is not the right fit, you may request a refund within 7 days of purchase.

During that time, you may log in, review the course structure, and preview the materials. Refunds are not available once a substantial portion of the course has been completed, assessments or required submissions have been turned in, or academic credit/transcript processing has begun.

Refunds are also not available based on a later decision by a district, employer, union, agency, state body, or other third party regarding acceptance, reimbursement, deadlines, or eligibility.

To request a refund within the 7-day window, email info@forteachersbyteachers.org.

5. Course Access, Updates & Availability

FTBT may update, revise, reorganize, migrate, improve, or retire courses, materials, and platform features over time in order to maintain quality, clarity, technology, or legal compliance.

While we aim to provide extended course access, lifetime access is not guaranteed. We will provide reasonable notice when feasible.

6. Completion, Processing & Timing

You are responsible for completing coursework, assessments, submissions, and any applicable transcript or credit request steps within the required timeframe.

Processing may include FTBT review, grading, posting to a university partner, registrar processing, and transcript fulfillment. Those timelines may vary.

FTBT is not responsible for missed deadlines, denied benefits, delayed processing, or lost opportunities caused by late submission, incomplete work, user error, third-party processing times, or external policy decisions.

7. Hawai‘i DOE Reclassification Timing

For Hawai‘i DOE reclassification purposes, the official completion date is the date shown on the university transcript issued by the applicable academic partner, not the date you submit final work to FTBT and not the date of a course completion email.

Because submission, grading, posting, and transcript processing happen in multiple steps, the transcripted completion date may differ from your submission date.

If you are working toward a DOE or district deadline, we strongly recommend allowing a buffer of at least two weeks.

FTBT and its university partners are not responsible for missed reclassification dates, denied reclassification, lost wages, or related losses arising from timing, processing, or external decisions. No backdating of grades, completion dates, or transcripts will be performed.

8. Intellectual Property

All course materials and site content—including videos, PDFs, graphics, written materials, assessments, downloads, and platform assets—are owned by FTBT and/or its academic partners and are protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, share, record, republish, sell, distribute, or reproduce course content without prior written permission.

9. Account Use

Each enrollment is for one individual user only. Account sharing, impersonation, or unauthorized use of another person’s login is not permitted.

FTBT may suspend or terminate access without refund in cases of misuse, fraud, abuse, or suspicious activity.

10. Service Availability & Disclaimers

FTBT services and content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We work hard to provide a smooth and reliable experience, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or a particular outcome from using the platform or courses.

To the extent permitted by law, FTBT disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, FTBT will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, or special damages arising from or related to your use of the site, platform, or courses.

This includes, without limitation, lost wages, denied credits, denied reclassification, delayed transcripts, missed deadlines, missed employment opportunities, or third-party decisions.

FTBT’s total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to FTBT for the applicable purchase in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $100.

12. Dispute Resolution

If a dispute arises, both you and FTBT agree to try to resolve it informally first.

If the matter cannot be resolved informally, it will be resolved through binding arbitration in the State of Hawai‘i, except that eligible claims may be brought in small claims court.

Disputes must be brought on an individual basis only, and not as part of a class action or class-wide arbitration.

13. Accessibility & Support

FTBT is committed to accessibility and inclusive learning. If you need accommodations or support accessing course content, please email us and we will work with you directly where possible.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawai‘i, without regard to conflict of law principles.
