Common Ways New York Educators Use These Credits
Every district sets its own rules. New York educators commonly use For Teachers By Teachers (FTBT) graduate credits for one of these three goals:
Salary Lane Movement
Submit graduate credits to your district HR for review under your collective bargaining agreement. Many New York districts recognize regionally-accredited graduate credit toward salary lanes such as Master's +15, +30, +45, or +60.
Continuing Education
Receive an official UMass Global transcript and a Certificate of Completion to submit for continuing education review. NYSED's CTLE requirement must be completed through an NYSED-approved CTLE sponsor — we don't claim CTLE hours through this pathway.
PD Documentation
Receive a Certificate of Completion documenting 45 instructional hours per course for your professional records — even without the optional university credit.

Will my New York district accept these credits?
District acceptance is decided by your district under its collective bargaining agreement. Many New York districts recognize regionally-accredited graduate credit on an official university transcript for salary lane movement, but specific approval rules vary district by district. Are these courses graduate-level? Is this real university credit?
Yes. The optional credits are graduate-level, non-degree semester units issued by University of Massachusetts Global, regionally accredited by WSCUC. These are transcripted graduate-level semester credits that many districts review for salary lane movement, depending on local district policies.
Do these courses count toward my CTLE requirement?
NYSED requires CTLE clock hours to come from an NYSED-approved CTLE sponsor. We don't claim CTLE hours through this graduate-credit pathway. Some New York districts independently accept transcripted graduate coursework as continuing education for local purposes — confirm with your district how transcripted graduate credit fits your specific requirements.
Do I have to pay the $190 transcript fee right away?
No. The university transcript fee is completely optional and can be paid anytime — including after you finish the course. The payment link is inside your online classroom, ready when you need it. Many New York teachers wait until they have district pre-approval before paying for the transcript.
Can I get a syllabus to submit for district pre-approval?
Yes. Email info@forteachersbyteachers.org and we'll send you the graduate-level syllabus for any course in our catalog — the format most New York districts expect for pre-approval review.
What is the refund policy?
We offer a 7-day refund window from the date of enrollment, per our Terms page. If you enroll and decide within 7 days that the course is not the right fit, email info@forteachersbyteachers.org.
